The third piece from this long 2015 session, "Little Heart Awash" is an improvised epic unfolding into something, carrying you, pieces of you recently immersed, lifting you out of that ocean, out of that sky, to somewhere else, and your little heart bursts with feelings. Sometimes I cry with this happy, nostalgic, reflective, regretful heartbreak for an ending moment that will never be the same, but still was, and was wonderful, and will always be with me. One can only hope music can bring you to moments such as these. This is what I play for, these pieces like this that come from somewhere else. Aside from a tiny enhancement courtesy of my synth pad experiments, this is as it was performed. Building on an initial loop endlessly. I wish I could perform these for you every time, but that's not what improvisation is about. Being out of control is where freedom lies. Lucky I can capture some of these moments for you with the exploited and dispossessed labour of generations, and the witchcraft of turning sound into electricity.
